Popular Broadway actors Kyle Dean Massey and Taylor Frey who tied the knot in 2016 surprised their fans with some more heartwarming good news last week as they welcomed their first child via surrogate last week.
"Seeing our daughter's face for the first time is something I will never forget. It's instant love," Massey, 39, said. "On top of that, I'm overwhelmed with gratitude for all the people who contributed to our journey to parenthood, our wonderful egg donor, our physician Dr. Guy Ringler, all of our attorneys, especially Thomas Gleeson. And of course our surrogate and her family who gave so much of herself to give us the most magnificent gift."
Husband Frey, 32, further added "I have been fortunate in my life to experience many things and many feelings, but nothing can compare to the immediate and unconditional love I feel for my daughter. It is as if with one single look into her eyes the rest of world has melted away. She has stolen my heart forever and changed my perspective on life as a whole. Everyone told me it would be wonderful, but I had no idea it would be to this degree. I stand in awe of my surrogate, and what she was capable and willing to do for us. I watched her labor in tears of gratitude."
The baby, born on Sunday, October 31 at University of Tennessee Medical, Labor and Delivery weighed in at 9 lbs., 9 oz and has been named Rafa Massey-Frey.
Frey and Massey have also co-founded their own IVF and egg donor agency called Elevate, which aims to to provide an empathetic approach to family building since the majority of the agency's staff has been through some sort of assisted reproductive journey either as an intended parent, donor, or surrogate.
The couple has also founded Forming Families Foundation, a nonprofit created to help alleviate the heavy financial burden of IVF, surrogacy and donation-based journeys so that couples can focus on creating the families they've always dreamed of.
Kyle and Taylor‘s surrogate, Kayde Mason, was able to document her entire surrogacy journey on social media and also shared this absolutely touching post-delivery video on her TikTok!
Massey calls their surrogate an "absolute superwoman," happily sharing the moment she informed them of the successful embryo transfer.
"She gathered her spouse and three kids and they all told us together," he says. "It was a very special moment where her family got to cheer on the start of ours. It was unforgettable."
We are incredibly excited for the proud new parents and wish them all the very best as they embark on their parenthood journey together.
